My name is Kirstin. I'm captivated by music, to say the least. I can relate everything to the Office, and will most likely do so in every conversation. |
is pretty much the coolest show on TLC.
Like really, WHO FINDS DINOSAUR BONES IN AN EMPTY FIELD AS THEY’RE BUILDING A GOLF COURSE?!
So freaking awesome.
Edit:
EVEN AWESOMER!! IT WASN’T DINOSAUR BONES! IT’S A MASTADON!
Nope! Doesn’t taste like almonds at all! And the packages usually say half, but you really should only do 1/4-to 1/3. It depends how much flour you use normally. Like for a batch, I use 2.25 cups of flour and .75 cups of meal.
That sounds cool, I’ll try it sometime.
Kirstin, what’s the recipe for the original cookies (assuming you havent given up on them completely)?
Classic Sugar Cookies :
- Large bowl: Mix butter, sugar, egg white and vanilla until smooth.
- Small bowl: Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to sugar mixture and stir until you have a soft dough. Gather dough into a ball, shape into a 6” long log, wrap in waxed paper and freeze for 3 hours, or until frozen.
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F. With sharp knife, slice frozen log into ¼” slices and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until barely golden. Transfer to rack, then cool.

This recipe was in the section of cookies to make for cut outs and such, so I don’t get it.
I didn’t give up completely; the dough is currently still in the freezer. I’m trying to figure out what to do with it…

What’s the problemo? I’m kind of a cookie doctor. :)
The dough is supposed to be rolled out, so I can make shapes out of them, but I had to put it in the freezer for 3 hours (or until frozen). And now the dough is all really crumbly and unable to be rolled out without breaking into a million pieces.
It’s making me beyond frustrated.
:( sounds like too much flour. I don’t know how you’d moisten them at this stage …
Not only was there too much flour, but it was the wrong recipe to use for making shapes…
The book lied to me. Grrr! For future reference (and assuming you’re not allergic to nuts), substituting almond meal in for some of the flour makes the cookies chewy, moist, and delicious. It’s kind of my “secret”, if you will.
Hmm.. that sounds interesting. Does it add an almond flavor though? Cause I’m not allergic, I just don’t like them) Also, how much would you subsitute it for? I’ll have to try that next time I make cookies.
The second batch I just made turned out alright… As good as sugar cookies can get, anyways.
:)

The best part of A Charlie Brown Christmas is when Snoopy is acting out all the animals he’s going to play, then starts mimicking Lucy and then kisses her, then he makes that funny noise.
When he’s dancing on the piano, but the piano guy stops playing but Snoopy keeps dancing anyways, then gets all embarassed and crawls away.
Hahaha, gosh I love this movie. (Is it really a movie though? Hms..)
Merry Christmas Eve Eve. I’m making fudge today and a risotto tort tomorrow. Oh, and cinnamon rolls after that.
yay food.
I’m cooking today too :) I’m making cookies, chocolate chip cookies in the shape of gingerbread men. I’m excited.
My chocolate chip cookies don’t shape. But they’re still tasty!
I make cookies too much, hahah.
I do too. My favorite ones to make are skor bits and chocolate chip cookies. They’re quite the awesome.
I don’t think I’m going to be making cookies today, actually. I have to freeze it for three hours… I don’t have that much time.. :(
edit: it’s quite the baking party up in here. Brittany’s making cookies too.. woo!
